1/2 GAL WHOLE MILK
1/2 HALF GAL OF HEAVY CREAM
1 PACKAGE SAUSAGE GRAVY MIX
SUB-CORN STARCH IF DON'T LIKE THE SEASONING
SALT & PEPPER
DIRECTIONS
TAKE THE POTATOES CUBED AND PAR BOIL
HALF SHREDDED AS HASH BROWNS HALF CUBED
IN A LARGE CHICKEN FRY PAN OVER MED HEAT
MELT ONE STICK OF BUTTER
PEEL AND SLICE ONION AND GARLIC
ADD TO BUTTER AND COOK DOWN
MEANTIME CUBE AND DE-FAT HAM
ADD SECOND STICK BUTTER AND HAM
COOK AND STIR UNTIL HAM COOKS DOWN INTO A PASTE
(TAKES AWHILE SMALLER CUBES ARE BEST STIR,STIR,STIR)
ADD THIRD STICK OF BUTTER AND SHREDDED POTATOES
COOK AND STIR DOWN TO A MASH
ADD LAST STICK OF BUTTER AS THIS COOKS WHEN IT STARTS DRYING
YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE A INDISTINGUISHABLE MASH OR PASTE
THIS IS THE BASE (ALSO SORE ARMS)
MOVE THIS TO A LARGE POT ADD CREAM
STIR UNTIL MASH DISTRIBUTES EVENLY IN CREAM
ADD MILK AND SAUSAGE MIX OR STARCH- STIR
ONCE WELL MIXED ADD CUBED POTATOES
GENTLY HEAT AND STIR UNTIL THICKENED
CAREFULL NOT TO SCORCH AT THIS POINT
THIS IS A HEAVY SOUP, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TASTE THE COMPONANTS
BUT NOT SEE OR FEEL THEIR TEXTURE AS THEY ARE COOKED DOWN
THE CUBED POTATOES ARE THE ONLY SOLID PART
ONE BOWL IS A MEAL AND IT FREEZES WELL
AS LONG AS YOU THAW BEFORE REHEATING SLOWLY
